WayneJacobs02Wayne Jacobs Wins a Third Listeners’ Club Song Award

Wayne Jacobs Awarded UK Country Radio Listeners’ Club Award For “In Cold Blood”

The song, one of dozens of original songs written by the East London-based writer, tells the story of a homeless man, shot dead on the streets of Nashville. Receiving the Award for the third year running, Wayne said, “I’m really touched. I can’t believe it. I wrote the song ‘In Cold Blood’ about a homeless man. It’s a sad song. I just sang it from the heart and had it produced in Nashville and I’m just over the moon”.

WayneJacobs2014AwardsThe Great American songwriting contest said this song had greatness about it and asked what was my relationship to the homeless man was, so I changed some of the lyrics to my Homeless Friend my Brother in Arms and had it produced once more in Nashville by Tom Manche and now it is just doing so well I cannot believe it myself.

Because of the changes and the support of my 9000 fans I won ukcountryradios.com 2014 Listeners Club Award for the third year in a row. The award ceremony will be held in London on the 8th November where I will be awarded there amazing class trophy which I get to keep for another year and a awesome certificate along with radio airplay publicity. My dream is still for a famous country singer to sing one of my country songs.

“Many thanks to all my fans and to show my gratitude you can download ‘In Cold Blood’ by clicking on the song banner below” Wayne Jacobs

Wayne Jacobs wins the ukcountry.com Listeners Club Award for the second year running

After winning the Listeners Club Award in 2012 for Kentucky Whisky, which told of the perils of drinking alcohol, the British country singer-songwriter Wayne Jacobs has showed yet again why he is regarded as one of the most talented artists not just in the UK but the world by winning the same award in 2013 for another emotionally moving song.

At a time when Nashville is more concerned about recording songs for a younger audience where the subject matter is not appropriate for adults that want to add serious tracks to their music library, it is little wonder that the listeners at Ukcountryradio.com acknowledged Wayne Jacobs for his song I Want my Daddy. This heart-breaking tune focuses on the real-life story of a fire fighter from Davies County in Kentucky who was run over by a truck. Wayne had seen this story on US television and was moved to such an extent that the result is this soon-to-be classic song. I Want my Daddy is told through the eyes of his wife and daughters who had seen this tragic accident because they were standing on the opposite side of the carriageway. The story had broken across Kentucky and affected every citizen.

As I Want my Daddy progresses and the lyrics start to build, the combination of Willie Nelson-esque harmonica playing and Wayne’s vocals are mixed together to an amazing quality. Towards the song’s conclusion, it remains unknown if the heroic fire fighter will survive and Wayne leaves the listener on tenterhooks.

Wayne beat off stern competition to win the 2013 Listeners Club Award. Along with Thorn Hill and the Ray Peters Band, who are both stalwarts in their own right, Wayne also saw off the Chris Green Project and Sharon King & the Reckless Angels. Wayne was announced as the winner at a star-studded event on the 7th September 2013 in Kegworth, Leicestershire. UKcountryradio.com had put on quite a night for guests plus all of the nominees as well as their friends and family. As well as a three course dinner, there was also live music throughout the night. Towards the end of the evening, it was announced that I Want my Daddy had been voted by listeners as their favourite song.

After catching flu shortly before the same awards ceremony in 2012, Wayne wasn’t able to attend which was very unfortunate because he won the Listeners Club Award for In Cold Blood. This song was based on another true story of a homeless man from Nashville who was murdered whilst sleeping on a bench in a public park for no apparent reason. Despite being involved in a road traffic accident in March 2013 where a metal plate had to be put into his shoulder and has temporarily prevented him from playing the guitar, Wayne soldiered on and performed a stonking set at the awards evening that consisted of Kentucky Whisky, In Cold Blood, Where Were You and, of course, I Want my Daddy. With rapturous applause not just for winning this highly sought after award but for his set, it was a night to remember for Wayne.

As Wayne Jacobs continues to be recognised in the UK for his song writing talents, it isn’t surprising that this friendly and incredibly likeable character is fast becoming one of the best country artists that Europe has to offer.
